Automated Stool Management

  • 0 mmHg radial pressure
  • No inflation, so no over-inflation!

0 mmHg Pressure on the mucosa

IBC’s exert high radial pressure on the mucosa leading to necrosis, injuries, and sphincter damage.

Nurses exacerbate the problem by overinflating when they see leakage.

Fully Automated, No Management Required

Scheduled flushing auto-cleans receptacle and tube to prevent malodor and save nursing time.

With Qoramatic, nurses can save up to 170 minutes managing incontinence every day!

How much time are nurses on your floor spending managing fecal incontinence?

Have you ever considered the balloon catheter you are using may be highly unsafe? Have you had a physician discontinue the use of fecal management systems that use balloon catheters?

Nurses spend over 170 minutes per day managing fecal effluents, changing pads or wound care dressings, and cleaning the patients. This keeps the nurses away from more clinically critical tasks and is reported as a major source of frustration, fatigue, and attrition.

Currently, stool (bowel) incontinence is managed by a rectal tube, absorbent pads (chucks), or indwelling balloon catheters. They all cause varied clinical complications like incontinence-associated dermatitis, pressure injuries, necrosis, sphincter dysfunction, anorectal trauma, bleeding, or plain simple leakage.

The majority of the nurses in the ICUs only use an indwelling device when patients have multiple (3-4) liquid stool incontinence episodes per shift. There are more than 1500 clinical incidences and adverse events reports associated with fecal (bowel) management systems on the FDA MAUDE database. Most hospitals discourage the use of balloon catheters to manage fecal/stool exudate, because of risks associated with high-pressure balloon catheters, and lack of control over injuries caused due to over-inflation.

Qoramatic reimagines incontinence management in non-ambulatory patients in ICUs. The product automates all pre-insertion, post-insertion, and management processes that are typically required by balloon catheters like FlexiSeal or DigniShield. Qoramatic does not have an inflatable balloon, so there is no risk of over-inflation or injury to the rectal vault.

Qoramatic is the only closed-loop stool management kit on the market that has Zero radial pressure. There is no balloon or inflation required to anchor the device inside the rectum, hence making it the safest fecal incontinence management device. Our device proactively draws fecal exudate away from the anorectal vault by using vacuum suction. This approach avoids any leakage from the sphincter and thus prevents dermatitis, maceration, or skin injury. The fluid that is sprayed on the teat (receptacle) of the device, keeps the device clean, eliminates malodor, and maintains adequate humidity in the rectum.

Once water is filled in the QoraMATIC drainage bag, the collection bags are designed to last for 8 hours. This frees up valuable time for the nurses and can help save up to 170 minutes per day – that is almost 7-8 minutes every hour!
